Krav Maga is an unarmed close contact fighting system.
Translated into english Krav Maga means contact/close combat. It is not a martial art and it is not a sport. It has become a popular self defense system world-wide, not only for military & law enforcement, but for civilians too.

It is an extremely practical fighting system, designed for real life hand to hand combat and self defense. The basic principle of Krav Maga techniques is to take out – or neutralize – the attacker as quickly and as simply as possible, while minimizing the injury or risk of injury to ones-self.

Krav Maga differs from other fighting systems sometimes used for self defense – such as Karate – in that it has no real rules, no kata, no competitions, no sporting applications. It was developed for and is used by the Israeli military.
The sole aim is to stop the attacker with as much force as necessary. The assumption is always that the attacker is a potential threat to ones life and is to be neutralized as quickly as possible, so Krav Maga techniques are brutally direct and effective. It is truly reality based.

There are no off limit techniques or targets, attacks to the eyes and groin are taught and strikes can be made with hands, feet, knees, elbows, forearms – even headbutts are incorporated into Krav Maga.
Additionally, improvised use of available objects when necessary is also taught.
Of course one needs to keep in mind the legal implications that can arise from defending yourself, and instructors will show you how to adapt and moderate Krav Maga techniques so as to fit the circumstances you may find yourself in, while at the same time not compromising your self defense.
Featured DVD Program
Krav Maga Personal Protection
Alain Cohen
6 DVD set

A detailed DVD program that takes you way past the basics and looks at real life application of Krav Maga techniques. The production values are not flashy but what you get is authentic instruction in the reality of fighting in what can be life threatening situations.
Presented by world renowned Krav Maga Master Alain Cohen.

The basic concepts of Krav Maga are:
1) Not to get hurt
2) To take out – or to “neutralize” your attacker by inflicting as much damage as necessary, as quickly as possible
3) To go from defending to attacking quickly
4) To be aware of your environment and situation at all times
5) To use when necessary any available objects in your defense and attack
6) To remove yourself from risk of further danger at the earliest opportunity.

As Krav Maga was developed for military use, when taught to civilians for day to day self defense instructors will teach you how to evaluate a situation and the level of threat, and how to respond appropriately. It is essential that you receive training from a qualified Krav Maga instructor so that you become comfortable with close quarter combat, and do not panic or over react in a real life situation.
If you were to attack the eyes of someone because they were intimidating in appearance and they asked you for the time, you will quickly find yourself in all kinds of legal trouble.
When you train regularly you become familiar with being attacked, defending and counter attacking. The more instinctive it becomes the more likely you to respond correctly under stress if you find yourself under attack or in a potential violent situation.
This is an important aspect of Krav Maga training, as without exposing yourself to realistic threats and attacks and learning to respond instinctively, it is highly possible you may just “freeze” in a real life situation.
You will learn how to defend, then prevent being attacked further by taking offensive action.
// ]]>

Krav Maga techniques are extremely well suited to real life self defense situations, and training in Krav Maga will give you the skills to defend yourself and your loved ones in the shortest possible time.
